Christmas on a Student budget
4th December 2010
Whether you love, like or loathe Christmas there is no escape from the mass of people congregating in our usually quiet, quaint Herefordian shops. As we get older we seem to buy more gifts than we receive; every year we go shopping, spend more money than we plan to, and are then counting the pennies all the way through the New Year. We have to buy for a whole host of people: family, friends and almost everyone we have ever met!
However, Christmas shopping needn’t be stressful; amongst friends ‘Secret Santa’ is a popular way in which to lower costs at Christmas time. Or, if you’re stuck for presents for your boyfriend or girlfriend, why not plan a fun day for the two of you, such as a trip to a concert or film.
Then there’s the almost impossible task of shopping for your parents; why not look around your house to see which items need replacing – new toasters and kettles are your parents’ dream!
Don’t try to get all your Christmas shopping done at once; first plan what you are going to get, then designate specific days to buy for your friends, your family and most importantly … yourself!
